I needed the structure of a program...otherwise I cheat...on diets only, NEVER relationships! Tried for Biggest Loser but didn't get in! My old idea of dieting is actually getting 4 servings out of a pint of ice cream, as opposed to the 1 serving we all know it really is...I got approved for and had weight loss surgery last week, on Tuesday 12/14...the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy...have been losing weight all year...One year ago I topped out at 394...from January thru October I went from 380 to a 320-324 range till my food funeral prior to the two-week pre-op diet (330), pre-op diet I got back down to 320 the 1st week & down to 307 day of surgery and today (12/19) I'm 5 days out, back to surgery weight after blimping up from 307 to 321 w/all the fluids I was being filled with (had an issue voiding the first couple days)...all's flowing well now...maybe a little too well...beware of protein farts...sorry, TMI!!! ******************************************************************************************************************* 210...here I come! That's my goal, to get back to LA/ATL weight & shape...I need to be a healthier James...two wake up calls...My gastro in Boston saying that not if, but when I need a liver transplant...I'd never got on the list and even if I had a donor, they would not perform the transplant at my old size, way too risky....and then dear old Mom...the nail in the coffin...so to speak...last year at my biggest she *tried* hugging me and could only touch the tips of her middle fingers...she said "James, if you don't do something about this...I'm going to end up burying you before you bury me...and besides, I can't keep giving you the double finger/bird behind your back!" Leave it to Mom to make the point and follow up it w/a laugh... ******************************************************************************************************************* So, I'm on the road to recovery, better health, a slimmer & better shape James...I spent 8 weeks in the gym pre-surgery getting in better shape for the operation & can't wait to get back in there! ******************************************************************************************************************* Even at my goal weight of 210-220, I'll always have that big ole bear presence...as my friend Warren from Detroit puts it: "I wouldn't sweat the shape of the chassie...you got the goods under the hood...besides...older guys are built for comfort not for speed. I will take a Chevy classic over a new roadster anyday! By my way of thinking...getting there is half the fun! You've got to enjoy the journey...the destination will be there when ya get there...
